Stopped cooling after 2 years

I purchased all GE appliances for a new home build 6 years ago. For some time now, the refrigerator was not cooling properly, hovering at 42 degrees. Service tech found internal failure of the wiring harness to the condenser fan and said it could not be repaired, so I was forced to purchase a new refrigerator.

Bought this fridge as a matching set to the rest of our kitchen appliances. Fridge went out several times costing us thousands of dollars in food spoilage. Finally after 3 years and the extended warranty people being done with coming to see us to repair it, we got a new fridge by a different brand. It doesn't match, but at least so far, after 2 years, it works! I loved the old fridge for the space and features, but it doesn't do you any good if the fridge doesn't work. Buyer beware!!

Pretty refrigerator

This is my first time having a French door style refrigerator. I previously had a side by side style GE Profile unit. I love GE products so decided to stick with them. I love the extra storage space this allows and the water/ice dispenser seems great so far. Only regret is that this fridge doesn't have a dairy box or can storage on the door. We're big seltzer drinkers here. However, with the extra space inside I don't think we'll be needing as much door storage. Overall I'm very pleased with my new purchase. The slate color is beautiful as well.

Do not buy this model GFE28GMKES died after 5 yrs

We bought this refrigerator in 2017 & the freezer stopped working last week. Repairman said we need a new compressor. This refrigerator is a little over 5 years old - that is Unacceptable to have to go out & buy a new refrigerator or spend almost as much money getting a new compressor!! We have always bought GE appliances. In the past few years after 2017 we purchased 3 large GE appliances. . Now I'm worried they're going to break soon!! I would think GE appliances should last at LEAST 10 years??? I am sick over this!!! The ice machine quit working completely last year with continuous issues that needed troubleshooting prior to its death & a shelf in the freezer also broke. Poorly made product. No resolution was given by GE- we are expected to pay their repair person $110 to come & diagnose the compressor issue which we already know the problem from another service person. Very disappointed in GE not trying to make this right. I'm sure they would not be happy if their own refrigerator died after 5 years. You lost a long time loyal customer who in the near future will need 2 new large appliances that have lasted 26 years. We will NOT buy anymore GE products & we would be hard pressed to recommend GE

After entering through double front doors, it was a challenge for the delivery men to get this refrigerator through door to kitchen. It took some time but now have a working unit. It has been less than one week but so far I am pleased. I purchased from an appliance store which has been in business over 75 years. Customer service is important to me.

French Door Refrigerator

We love our new refrigerator - the doors open wide making it convenient to load and find items. The drawer freezer is much larger than our old side by side. Overall, this refrigerator has all the options we could want with lots more space than our old refrigerator in the same space. I believe this is because the refrigerator/freezer is designed and laid out better. Thanks GE.

I absolutely love my refrigerator. Installed in November and it's now June. Love the accessibility of the top frig and bottom drawer freezer. I haven't used the app feature yet but plan to install it and see what that's about. The temp stays level and the lighting can't be beat. The entire frig is illuminated and easy to see all corners and drawers. Love this!

It has so much room in it!! I don't have the ice maker in the freezer compartment because I would rather have the room for frozen things. The ice maker in the refrigerator compartment makes plenty of ice for me. I love the adjustable shelves and the adjustable drawers. It makes it all so convenient. I like to buy a lot of food and save the trip to the grocery store, and this fridge makes it possible to store a lot of food. I also love the color and the ice/water dispenser. I have the matching appliances and it makes the kitchen look very "finished."

First of all my paperwork has the model # as GFE28GMKRES in some places and GFE28GMKES in other places.  This GE review page has the R missing.  Does this mean anything?  When I walked into my kitchen the first morning with my new GE frig I noticed right away a humming noise coming from it.  The frig I replaced was an older competitor's frig and it made NO noise at all, so I noticed this new noise in my kitchen right away.  If this cannot be rectified I will be returning this new GE frig.  Why would I pay "a lot" to have an annoying sound added to my life?  I can also hear it in my dining area and my living room. The frig area shelving does not allow for a water pitcher, milk carton, etc.  See photo.  One more inch by the design engineer and things would be fine.  I was able to remove a shelf in order to put these items into the frig area.  The exterior water dispenser has no reservoir for spilled water.  See photo.  Why?  God bless me but "I am a spiller! Have been all my life!" There are two small scratches on the door. See photo. This frig is very attractive! (I got sick and tired of stainless steel. yuk!). I love the slate finish. That's why I bought all four appliances together. My kitchen looks epic and very professional! See photo. If GE can get rid of the noise I will update my review. That's really the only significant issue I have with this product.

the french door style and wide shelves make it easy to accommodate normal weeks and entertaining weeks. putting frequently used items on one side makes it easy to just open one side! Love the color! The freezer is easy to organize with the drawers and sections. We lose less food! I noticed the crisper drawers have kept the fresh things fresh MUCH longer than the old fridge!

Great except for freezing meat and veggie dept

The fridge is reall nice - roomy, nice sturdy shelves, big meat and veggie dept, great ice maker. And very attractvive and easy to clean outside and inside. But for the first 2 weeks everything in the meat and veggie bins froze. I turned the temp up as high as it would go, still froze. Finally quit freezing after close to 3 weeks.

The ice maker's capacity on the door is too small to handle multiple guests and needs a filter to operate which is expensive. There is no dairy bin, the refrigerator area is smaller than expected and the shelves are not very adjustable to use taller items. On a more positive note, the freezer is large.

Took almost 6 months to warranty...

We were so excited to get a new fridge which turned into a nightmare. The fridge died very early on. We thought oh well at least it's under warranty. I'm so thankful for our appliance guy who spent months and over 30 hours on the phone including hold time to get our fridge replaced. GE left a family of five using a dorm fridge for almost 6 months This is our 5th GE appliance as well.....the fridge seems like a good fridge now....but man is the GE warranty bad. I'm so glad our stove, dish washer, and expensive smart washer and dryer worked because the warranty process was so bad.

With our recently completed remodel, first floor only, we put in a new kitchen and an entire suite of GE PROFILE appliances: refrigerator, stove, dishwasher. Needless to say, this has all taken some getting used to. However, we both feel the upgrades and improvements made on the refrigerator, especially, have made a difference in our appreciation of the kitchen, and the added interior space over our old unit, is very remarkable. I can truthfully say we have no hesitation recommending the GE PROFILE refrigerator. Well laid out (takes a little getting used to) and seems to be extremely well built. I'd say, for people who are pretty picky about specific details of items we buy, GE seems to have done a great job meeting our needs.

The installers from Warner Stellians were amazing. In and Out and told us what to expect in the next 24 hours. Ice is keeping up with our needs and water is cold. I would like the water choices to. Ack lit at night so I knew what I was pushing a/o the kitchen light on. The long drawer in the fridge is kind of awkward because both doors need to open to access and the milk is a tight fit in the door. Nothing we didn't know beforehand though. Still loving it.

The refrigerator is exactly as we wanted. Larger capacity and we like the freezer on the bottom.

The slate is much better for fingerprints.

We like it. It looks great and will be low maintenance. Downside is it is a little louder than we expected and is slower to come back down to temp.

Day one it failed!

Installed and after waiting for 24 hours, would not cool! Service was sent out and we were told it was a failure of the motherboard and possibly a coolant leak! Due to part and service delay or the time to replace, we are being offered a display model with NO discount! Extremely disappointed!

Interior doors brake all of the sliding mechanisms are broke had to call repair out once and now it is not getting cool again

I absolutely love my refrigerator. It has so much more space than my old one, so I can see what's behind items, and everything isn't so cramped. I, also, like having the freezer located at the bottom. This makes it much easier to see what's there and it's much more convenient when you're taking things out.

We are very pleased with this refrigerator. It has lots of space and it's easy to see everything that's inside. The only issue we had is its saying that the water filter needs to be replaced, but it is brand new. The person who installed it frid says the message will go away when another filter is put in. He said it is an issue with the chip in the filter.

I purchased GE so that I could always get replacement parts. Also purchased extended warranty. I chose the SLATE color….I'm so done with SS and fingerprints! Love it!!!!
