This refrigerator replaced a 20 year of GE that was great. This one is poorly designed and the only reason I'm keeping it is because nothing else will fit in the space. Pros - It fits into the space and it works but not great. Con's - It's loud, when the compressor shuts off your the tension leaves your body. The recessed handles get dirty quickly, are hard to clean and you can't have long nails and open this refrigerator. The wire shelves are flimsy and I'm afraid to put anything heavy on them for fear they'll bend and snap. The humidity in the refrigerator is very low below 20 degrees according to GE it should be higher. I had to fill the freezer with ice cubes to get it cold enough on the recommended setting. I would love to get glass shelves and figure out a way to put handles on it, but the noise will never subside. If you're going to put this in a garage fine but other then that stay away.

Okay but not Great

We bought this refrigerator to be an extra refrigerator down in the basement It's okay for that use. Even though it's small, the space inside is efficiently divided up. The refrigerator section is well lighted, but the freezer is not lighted at all. It seems to operate mostly pretty well, but then we've only had it for six weeks. We have had issues trying to kee it cool enough and have had to monitor it regularly to make sure the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold. Also the lack of handles on the doors is very awkward. The indents on the doors are more difficult to use especially if you have other things in your hands. It's a good unit especially if your main goal is to keep the cost low.

Freezer has back panel that makes a vibration noise. The noise was so bad in the first refrigerator that I got, I requested a replacement of the appliance. The delivery person said it was "defective". This second one is quieter, but I wonder if the noise will increase over time.

I ordered this model because it fits my space. The sheving is very basic and not very flexible. ( my old model had split shelves so you could put tall things on one side and have more short shelves on the other.) It is also noisier than you old one. I ordered it on line during covid; I wish there had been more choices for small space models.

Unfortunately this turned out to be a very noisy refrigerator for its small size. I needed to replace an older fridge (different brand) of same size that was not as noisy as this one. Another thing I learned after buying it is that since is Energy star the compressor has to be on more often. The room temperature here is not that high, I don' open it very often to blame this on other factors, it's just the design. I'm really bummed I had such high hopes for this General Electric, I have to wear noise cancelling headphones at night while trying to sleep as I live in a small apartment (hence the size of the refrigerator).

Perfect smaller size refrigerator -- love GE

We desperately needed a replacement refrigerator in a park model trailer used for a vacation home. The old refrigerator was clearly not energy efficient and we noticed that the motor was running most of the time. To find a top freezer refrigerator to fit a smaller 65H x 33W x 32D size was not easy -- there are just not many choices out there. There was an option available via GE Appliances and we are EXTREMELY HAPPY with it. The fact that it has built in handles along the door, instead of the handles that protrude from the surface was an improvement to give the smaller space in a park model a more streamlined feeling. Of course we would love to have a huge, side by side refrigerator with all the bells and whistles but this was not was the need. For a solid and well functioning refrigerator for a smaller space this was a WINNER. We love the efficient features of this refrigerator and the GE service from removal of the old refrigerator to installation was SUPERB. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The refrigerator could not keep a constant temperature between 30-40 degree even when at #4. The door has to be close all the time to maintain the between 30-40 degree temperature. Also, the refrigerator is loud.

We purchased this refrigerator for our cabin in the mountains. We were very limited to choices as the refrigerator had to fit under some cabinets. We hauled the refrigerator to our cabin. Plug it and and was shocked at how loud it was. Thought I'd give it 24 hours to "adjust". The noise did not change. The bedroom is near the kitchen and you can hear the refrigerator from the bedroom.

This refrigerator works well. It isn't as cold as our previous Frigidaire- the freezer in this GE refrigerator doesn't make the ice cream turn solid - it maintains the cold and correct consistency. This GE refrigerator section isn't quite as cold as our previous Frigidaire, but it works well.

This unit feels like it was a smart buy for us. The deep shelves in the door make up for there only being two of them. The space for tall bottles right inside the door is handy for a quick grab of those items. The shelves feel sturdy and the divided veggie bin will make for easier cleaning. I'm not a fan of textured finishes on appliances though this cleaned up easily when trying to remove residue left by packing tape. It seems to be louder than my previous unit though it may just be getting accustomed to a different sound.

This unit only has a single control switch that supposedly adjusts the temperature in both the refrigerated section and the freezer section. The temperature is not consistent and ranges from 30.2°F to 38.6°F in the refrigerator section and -2.6°F to +6.8°F in the freezer section – this is when set on the # 4 setting (5 is coldest). I've used five different thermometers to measure these temperatures and they all give essentially the same poor results. The variations are just as erratic on the #3 or #5 settings. Cannot trust this unit to properly hold a desired freezer temperature of at least 0°F or a temperature in the refrigerator that does not go to below 32°F while trying to keep the freezer cold enough. BIG MISTAKE to purchase this unit!

So far so good, just delivered today, looks great and I think it will definitely fill my needs. Runs quietly which is very important as I live in an in-law and the fridge is in the kitchen/living room.
