Seems to hold temperature but very noisy

After almost a month now GTE18GTNDRWW finally seems to be 'normailizing'. First few weeks it was extremely noisy when compressor and fans ran. They would cycle on and off with great frequency throughout the day and nighy quite loudly. We were almost at a point where we were going to schedule GE warranty service look at it. If you're looking for a quiet refrigerator, this isn't it.

Since this refrigerator had the same features as my previous one, was willing to wait a month for it and it was worth it! Pros: * It did not take long after plugging to cool. So far entire fridge is cooling great! * Plenty of storage including on the door itself which I find a big roomer than my last fridge. * Upgrade from last unit is clear deli drawer and bottom crispers (for fruits veggies). * Glass shelves easier to clean. One note: guide mentions do not use warm damp cloth when cleaning a cold fridge as the glass shelves can crack. Follow directions and will be ok :) * The freezer has adjustable shelves. Since the air vent is on the top, I kept the shelf on the lower slot to help keep the vents clear. Still have enough space for home needs. * It makes the usual noises for the unit to work. On this unit, I find it much quieter than my previous one. * Beautiful texture on outside of refrigerator (purchased white). Cons: * Since I left it on while cleaning before use, by the time I was done, the lights in the fridge slightly dimmer than when received. TIP: When cleaning the refrigerator prior to use, keep it unplugged. Even slightly dimmer, still adequate lighting; will continue using as is. No light bulb so light has to be professionally maintained by an authorized provider, especially to help keep the warranty valid. * Proposition 65 Warning: [may cause cancer and reproductive harm.] Would like to know specifically which part of the product may cause this harm. Would prefer an appliance without such materials on products which are getting much harder to find. Also, more ease to find safer products. Overall, so far, a month after delivery of the fridge, the refrigerator is working great. I recommend this product.

I love it. My former refrigerator ran all the time and it was time for a new one. I especially love the thought that went in to the door shelves, with the smaller one for the smaller containers. The main compartment also was well thought out. This one is so quiet and I almost never hear it running.

This Energy Star rated top- freezer refrigerator seems to be a decent product. So far the refrigerator is quiet and holding constant temp levels. I wish the drawers were not clear and see-through but I enjoy the ability to slide the shelf drawer to either side. I look forward to helping the environment by saving energy and to reduceing electric costs.

Very nice refrigerator to fit my limited space requirements… Two comments for improvement… door shelf should have solid restraining bracket instead of slit in the bottom where things can slide under. Also it does run a bit noisy… On the plus side, the moveable drawer is a nice touch and the glass shelves are easy to clean and prevent spills from leaking on to other shelves.

Of course, the former model was also a GE product. This newer model, however, is most elegant! Internally, the lighting takes your breath away! I can now see the contents of the Chill Trays without having to open them; the butter holder compartment, likewise, is also an added elegance in comparison to the older model. Just had a new GTE18GTNDRWW refrigerator installed in the basement by the Home Depot team. We are replacing a 33-year-old unit that was still working. We use it mainly for drinks and extra freezer area. The GE unit is good looking, came down to temperature very fast and is very quiet. The HD team had the new unit down the 12 stairs and installed in less than 30 minutes. Great job and a fine new energy efficient GE refrigerator. Easy as pie. Thanks Home Depot!

Feel like it's running all the time. Thermometer inside refrigerator sometimes reads 40 other times 36 degrees. Frost and frozen ice sometimes appears on top of freezer just inside the door. I have not yet reported the above; hoping it will adjust after a bit.

I have a very small space for my fridge. This one is a bit taller than my old one so it allows for remarkably larger freezer space. The door shelve are wider and fit quite a bit more items. I love the glass shelves and bins.

It's bigger inside than it looks outside

Very quiet and keeps things nice and cold in both refrigerator and freezer. Interior is well designed and includes a butter section, lacking on many modern units these days. There is also a lot of storage which is adjustable inside. Though it is slightly smaller than our former refrigerator, it seems to store at least as much as before.

Good basic unit, nice lay out. One complaint when it turns on you know it . It is on the loud side. The controls should be in the back, not in the center. Big bottles tend to hit it. Had GE before, they worked well.
