Kitchenaid French door fridge

This came at a perfect time! We couldn't be any happier with this appliance purchase. Kitchenaid is top of the line. This refrigerator is lovely! The French doors open to very roomy interior. The platinum interior is very classy with the LED lighting. The ice machine makes a very good amount of ice in a very short time. Freezer capacity is ample. We give this refrigerator a five star rating.

We gutted our kitchen and purchased all KitchenAid appliances and they are so much of an upgrade I cant believe it! This 42" Fridge is well-thought out on design and quiet. The doors are easy to open and the freezer has tons of space and pullouts.

Before purchase 2 months ago, I was concerned with French door style of loosing interior space. Space is not a problem. Quite noticeable how produce is staying consistently fresh with longer shelf life. Had to replace seal around small container that attaches to door - no problems with vendor or replacement part.

3 years old and requires a $1500 part to fix

Our refrigerator is 3 years old. The seal for the door is broken. Repair person said that kitchenaid no longer carries the seal as a replacement part so we will need to buy a whole new door at a cost of $1500. Very unhappy with this purchase.

BEST BUILT IN RERIGERATOR EVER

I am so impressed by my new built-in. Love the black stainless steel cover because it doesn't show hand prints like standard stainless. Has great storage. But the best thing was the price because I got it on sale and it saved me $4000 over any other built in models and brands. I'm thrilled to have saved that money which allowed me to purchase new replacement appliances for the rest of my kitchen all from KitchenAid: Dishwasher, gas cooktop range, double wall ovens and built in microwave.

Quiet, Low Ice otput

What everyone wants to know is what are the flaws so I will start with that. There is only really one, the ice machine. It will only put out 38 cubes per day. After 4 days of ownership and 3/4 bucket of ice I contacted Whirlpool to find out it is not a voluminous ice producer. The number posted is what I was told from the representative. Unlike the General Elec cheap refrigerator I had in my rental which would fill a larger bucket every 24 hrs. This is just your basic refrigerator with an ice maker in the drawer. Since the refrigerator truly has only two functions, make ice and keep things cool and 50% of that is below par for a machine of this Price. a Fair rating was given. If a machine just does what it is supposed to than it is average. Exceptional means it does much, much more. Companies should strive for a better product and not just meeting the expectation and expecting an excellent rating. There is a lot of wasted space if one really looks around the drawers and see that another cubic foot or so of space is just not usable with the design of the drawers.. They do not go all the way to the back. there is waste on the sides...here is a great place if you want to really be innovative … recessed tracks and show the consumer that you really get every inch of space with drawers like you get with shelves. The Good: Very Quiet. (This you would expect for a machine of this price) If you plan to have an open floor concept home where the kitchen is part of the main living space … this is the refrigerator for you...you will not have to increase the volume of the TV, every time the compressor kicks on. Even coolness - Again a basic expectation the width and the depth make it very easy to use. Unlike a standard refrigerator you are always digging to the back... This refrigerator you will have everything right in front of you.

The option to use matching cabinet panels really helps this large refrigerator blend into the wall. Unfortunately this option is not available for the microwave/oven combo next to it so it kind of sticks out in the wall of cabinets.

This refrigerator has a lot of room for all your items. Lots of shelf space on the doors and the shelves. Several drawers allow segregating various meats, cheeses, fruits, etc. The freezer, too, has ample space for most needs. The ice drawer is quite large and is needed in our family of 5. Instructions about installing the air filter are completely wrong. There is no such place along the back wall on the ceiling on which to snap the filter. I just put it on a shelf. Note: we purchased the model in which we put in custom panels. There are no handles that come with this model. They are $270 extra when purchased from KitchenAide and possibly more if you go to a specialty store to find handles that match the knob decor in your kitchen. To change the water filter, one must lie down completely on your stomach and look under the freezer to find where it goes. A major inconvenience!!! I'd advise purchasing the warranty directly from KitchenAide which was much cheaper than the price offered by the appliance store.

We have been using this model for about 3 weeks now and it is working just fine. The layout of the interior makes storing things easy. The way it maintains the cold temperature constantly is very helpful, especially in keeping things fresh and usable. The ice maker started slowly but now that bin is filled completely. It is also much easier to find things. I recommend getting your warranty from Kitchenaid rather than the sales vendor. One caveat: to get to the water filter, you must fully lie face down on the floor as it is under the freezer compartment. Thankfully you only have to do it twice a year.

The 24.2 Cu. Ft. 42" Width Built-In Panel Ready we installed performs exactly as advertised. It is quiet, the doors work well ( even with heavy panels) and the interior design of the shelves are very functional. Ice maker works very well. We were able to design the cabinets to accommodate a flush installation and allow the full 135 deg door opening that allows the door to stay open. Interestingly, the shallow 24" depth that seemed like a limitation is in practice more convenient because of improved access to the back. The white interior is fine.
