Extremely Overpriced Given the Low Quality!!

Looks nice and is relatively quiet compared to my old compactor. That is about it for the complements regarding this purchase. I bought this to replace a still-working but 30+ year old compactor in my kitchen. I was hoping that for over 1700 dollars that it would be well-built; I was wrong. Everywhere KitchenAid could do something cheaper, they did. On the interior of the compactor they used cardboard panels rather than metal (and no, they were not shipping materials). The cardboard panels won't be cleanable like metal would be (such as in my older compactor) The main door/cabinet face (which gets the most use because this is what you open and close when disposing of items into the compactor) is very flimsy because Kitchen Aid decided to utilize the thinnest sheet metal possible rather than designing it to feel sturdy under the daily use that a kitchen compactor faces. The cabinet face wobbles and easily bends which is not a characteristic that should be associated with any appliance that cost over 1700 dollars. I'm willing to pay more for high quality goods; In this case I paid more for something that looked nice but feels like it was grossly under-designed.
In addition to my disappointment about the flimsy construction, the cabinet face/door wasn't plumb/squared up with the rest of the compactor. It did not appear to have been damaged during shipping. When I contacted your authorized reseller AJ Madison for a replacement or a credit for sending me a damaged item they told me that they couldn't do anything because it had already been installed.
Overall, I seriously regret getting rid of my old compactor and buying this overpriced example of modern, shoddy American manufacturing and I'm seriously embarrassed for having paid so much money for this compactor.
