It cleans well when it completes its cycle however weve had issues with the electronics and not completing cleaning cycles. Also the lower rack easily comes off the track when pulled out fully.

We bought this LG dishwasher to replace one that had lasted for 17 years. We wanted white to match everything else in our kitchen and LG was one of the few companies that offered while without charging extra for that. A selling point was the decibel level. We never thought of our old dishwasher as loud until we ran the LG. You can barely hear it running even when standing right next to it. We dont use the 3rd upper rack - it simply does not appeal to us. And we use the silverware holders from our old dishwasher because we didnt like the one long holder that was meant to be placed at the back of the dishwasher. There is ample room without that for a weeks worth of our dishes since there are only 2 of us at home. Generally everything comes clean but one plastic container with chopped cilantro in it did not and I had to hand wash it to get the cilantro leaf pieces off the side of the container. I am also concerned that the inside of the door stays wet even days after the dishwasher has been run and I am concerned what the long term effect of that will be. Nevertheless we are generally very pleased with our new LG dishwasher and I recommend it.

Great features runs quiet cleans well but the rack

Ive had my dishwasher for about a month its very quiet cleans the dishes really well. My only problem is with the bottom rack. My Mikasa dishes tip sideways instead of sitting up straight. Also the bottom rack has to be pulled out very slowly and steadily it falls off the track really easily. I also wish there was something for stemware. But I do love the upper rack for the cutlery.

This dishwasher is so quiet can hardly hear it it loads easily holds a lot of dishes glasses etc. especially like the top rack for utensils. I like that all the racks can be adjusted the utensil holder on bottom holds everything in place or can keep it open. The wash cycles are easy to figure out. Washes dishes well too.

Dishwasher is Good But Has Some Drawbacks

My new dishwasher was delivered on June 19. The first load of dishes took 3 hours and 23 minutes My old dishwasher took about 45 minutes and I never had a dirty dish or had to rewash anything. I made a few phone calls to LG and finally figured out how to bring down the time it takes to do the dishes. So far Im at 1 hour and 34 minutes. The dishes are clean when the cycle completes but you have to leave the door open in order to get the dishes to dry. If you leave the dishes in the dishwasher overnight I did this once they will still be wet in the morning. The touch controls are on the front of the door and are very sensitive. Several times a day as Im preparing food on the countertop I must lean against the door and it turns on the power and plays its tune. This can be quite annoying. The LG rep said the dishwasher uses 2.87 gallons of water. This is better than my old dishwasher that used 5 gallons of water but now instead of worrying about my water bill I worry about the electric bill. Why should it take so long to clean the dishes and then theyre not even dry

Quietest dishwasher ever

Its been a week since installed and its a great buy so far. It is a super quiet dishwasher. Like you dont even hear it running at all. Not crazy about the touch buttons which really arent buttons at all. Its more of a sensor and you have to hold your finger there for a second or two before it registers. If it were an actual button you could just press it real quick and be done with it but I guess thats a part of the modern look and design. The digital countdown is a nice feature. So far so good on the cleaning. The reason for the 4 star and not 5 is the biggest flaw - the black cover at the bottom. With a white dishwasher it should be white to seamlessly go with the face and blend with the cabinets. Instead the black cover at the bottom sticks out and looks unfinished. Hopefully this is something LG can fix for future white washers

Dishwasher worked very quietly and would not dry dishes. Checked with dealer with no help. They gave me the 800 number. they keep asking questions and gave suggestions but nothing applied to dishes not drying. Called back again and no help. Both people that I talked to spoke english like it was their 5th language.Could barely understand them. Received email and told me use rinse aid and high temp. Dishes finally dry. Seems like this was simple problem and could have been settled with one phone call.

MUCH louder than the 12 y/o Bosch unit it replaced

I had this unit installed in March it is louder than the Bosch unit it replaced. This unit was purchased because it had a lower decibel rating. Tech came out and indicated the unit was louder than it should be. LG says its working fine if LG states the unit is not the problem either LG specs are incorrect or fraudulently misleading. I shouldnt hear my dishwasher from three rooms away when I could stand next to the Bosch and only hear it during the water draining cycle. I regret everything about this purchase.

Quiet and Intuitive

I got this LG dishwasher after my previous mostly dependable Kitchen-Aid washer quit. I was worried the LG would be louder but just the opposite turns out to be quieter. The controls are simple to use and unlike the Kitchen-Aid cant be activated by leaning against them something that happened often. The lay-out of the controls is intuitive so much so I didnt even need the instructions to figure it out. And by the way I really appreciated the one page quick-look instruction sheet. I always disliked having to read through a manual. The only thing Id change is the dishwasher is white but the bottom kick-panel is black and the installation instructions say not to cover up the kick-panel with a trim-panel. Since my trim panels are white like the dishwasher the black stands out. Ill probably take it off and spray paint it white. Overall I like it lots and highly recommend it.

I Love It....except for one thing.

I love my new dishwasher. My dishes come out clean no greasy residue. There is a nighttime feature that air dries through the night. Theres no water remaining in the tops of cups in the morning when I use this. It has a third drawer on the top that is not very deep but it is perfect for container lids overflow silverware rubber spatulas sponges knives anything flat. There are little teeth in which the silverware can be placed on edge so quite a bit of silverware can be loaded if you arent using the silverware basket for some reason. The second drawer down which used to be the top drawer has four dish separator sections. Two of the divider sections have a side that will lay down flat so you can put in small pans or larger items. The whole drawer can be raised and lowered a few inches to accommodate tall items in either the second drawer or the lower drawer. I really like this option. The makes it more versatile. The bottom drawer holds the silverware basket. I really like this basket as the lid will hold silverware vertically and separated so that they dont nest. Also there are two separate lids that lift so you can put in small items then close the lid. The small items are now contained so they dont fly. Or you can put in long cooking tools or knives. The bottom basket also has four separator sections. The prong set in two sections each fold down creating a large flat area to accommodate larger items. The bottom drawer is my problem area. It doesnt have a groove for the wheels to glide in which allows it to go off track easily. It slides easily enough when it is not loaded however if there is any weight in the drawer it goes off track. I need to stand directly in front of it and push with both hands to guide it in. If not it will go off track and will need to be wrestled back in place. Other than that issue this is an excellent product but couldnt give it five stars as it really has been a problem for me.

After 3 months my dishwasher did NOT work. Dishes came out as dirty as when put in. Finally after 4 chats with LG agents Anthony replaced the circuit board and informed me I should be using detergent PODS and now it works fine.

My old dishwasher broke on Thanksgiving day so I went to pick out a new one without any pre-thought out ideas of the features I really wanted. I agreed to purchase the one that was soonest available. It turned out that I love the LG dishwasher. It is sleek easy to use and very roomy on the inside. I am surprised that I love the third rack for things like serving spoons bottle caps and other small items. I also like that I can fit so many items in the silverware rack. It has turned out to be a great buy at a reasonable price and my dishes are super clean too

Very bad racks

It is very difficult to load this machine the racks are not smooth the wheals keep coming off and the 3rd rack is also designed poorly I am sorry I bought this machine

We purchased the LDFN4542W a little over a month ago and we could not be more pleased Like most people we wanted the best product for the least cost and we got it. Our research criteria was: product quality price performance quiet and white front. LG nailed all five. Performance is stellar and is much quieter than we expected. There are others with more bells and whistles that cost more but if you want to wash dishes the LDFN4542W is your machine

Cleans really well

I brought my dishes into many stores to find a DW that fits tall things on the bottom rack and this one seemed to have the most clearance as well as a 3rd rack that doesnt fit much but silverware. Ive only run it twice but things seemed to come out very clean---even pans with some baked on grease. Only downside is that the bottom rack doesnt have enough tines to hold small casseroles that can tip over.

Working great after repair

All the features we were looking for at a reasonable price. However the door latch was defective. After a couple of calls to customer service a technician was dispatched and quickly replaced the latch. The dishwasher is not working as expected.
